Meet Laurie Elsass

In 2020, my brother and I were faced with a challenging decision of where my parents should live.  My dad had been recently diagnosed with dementia and had started to have significant balance issues that resulted in some scary falls.  After much research and discussion we decided to move them from Atlanta up here to an assisted living community where they would be close to me.  As my dad's healthcare power of attorney, it made the most sense for all of us.  In the last four years I have learned a great deal as their advocate as well as an "aging" individual myself.  A direct result of this education and experience has been my decision to become specialized in the needs of older adults as they make later-in-life real estate transitions.  These transactions are often more complex, as they not only involve downsizing but also encompass the emotional and practical challenges of moving after many years in the same home.

After months of course work, study, a final exam and interview, I am proud to have earned the Certified Senior Housing Professionals (CSHPs) designation.  CSHPs are uniquely equipped to navigate these complexities, ensuring that the needs and concerns of older clients are addressed with empathy and expertise.  Becoming a CSHP not only positions Real Estate Professionals to effectively assist senior clients in selling, purchasing, leasing, or relocating into senior living communities but also enables collaboration with a network of specialized professionals. This comprehensive approach ensures that every aspect of the senior client’s transition is handled with care and proficiency, making CSHPs invaluable in today’s real estate market.
